7 Types of QR Codes You Can Create Free

1. UPI Payment QR Code

The most popular QR type for businesses. Enter your UPI ID (e.g., 9876543210@ybl) and business name. Customers scan with any UPI app — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM — and pay directly to your bank account. Print and display at your shop counter, share on WhatsApp, or add to your invoice PDF. 2. WhatsApp QR Code

Enter your WhatsApp number and a pre-filled message. When someone scans the QR, WhatsApp opens with a chat to your number and the message already typed. Perfect for businesses on visiting cards, shop signboards, and product packaging. Customers can contact you with one scan instead of saving your number manually.

3. WiFi QR Code

Enter your WiFi network name (SSID), password, and security type. Print and display at your cafe, office, or home. Guests scan to connect to your WiFi instantly — no need to read out or type the password. Works with Android (native) and iPhone (camera app) for automatic connection.

4. URL / Website QR Code

Enter any website URL. Customers or visitors scan to open the webpage directly — no typing required. Use for linking to your Google Maps listing, Instagram page, product page, booking link, or Google Form.

5. vCard (Contact) QR Code

Enter your name, phone, email, company, and address. The QR code encodes your complete contact information. When someone scans it, they can save your full contact details to their phone with one tap. Essential for networking events, trade fairs, and professional meetings.

6. Email QR Code

Pre-fill the recipient email address, subject line, and body. When someone scans the QR, their email app opens with the email pre-composed. Useful for feedback forms, support emails, and enquiry links.

7. Text QR Code

Encode any plain text in a QR code — instructions, addresses, discount codes, or any information you want to share via scan. The recipient sees the text displayed on their screen when they scan.

QR Code Usage Tips for Indian Businesses

Frequently Asked Questions

Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes (like those created on ConvertMate) never expire. Once generated and downloaded, the QR code works indefinitely as long as the information it contains is still valid. Your UPI QR code works as long as your UPI ID remains active.
Is it safe to share my UPI QR code publicly?
Yes. A UPI QR code only allows people to send money to you — it cannot be used to withdraw money from your account. It is safe to display in your shop, on social media, on your website, or print on business cards. No banking credentials are stored in the QR code.
Can I customise the colour or logo of my QR code?
The standard QR codes generated on ConvertMate are black and white, which ensures maximum scanning compatibility. Custom-coloured or logo-embedded QR codes are available for Pro users. Note that heavy customisation can reduce QR code scanning reliability on some phones.
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
Static QR codes (ConvertMate's default) have the destination encoded directly in the QR. They are free, permanent, and work without any ongoing service. Dynamic QR codes redirect through a URL shortener and can be edited after printing — but require a paid subscription to a QR management service. For most uses in India, static QR codes are sufficient.
